GS1 Traceability For Food Safety In Viet Nam

Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi City is two largest foodstuffs markets in the country. Prior to the problem of food unsafety, the cities have taken some management actions to ensure people’s wellbeing as well as rights of legitimate producers and traders of foodstuffs. The actions caused some effects but facing quite a lot of inconveniencies such as different traceability solutions encoded in different label all of which were applied in one product etc.

In order to solve the problem, the government assigned the Ministry of Science and Technology – the top governing body of GS1 Vietnam – one mission of establishing an overall plan about traceability label implementation and management in the whole country. The draft plan concentrating on GS1 traceability standards has been sending to related organizations for comments and GS1 Vietnam is in charge of submitting the plan to the government in the second quarter 2018.
